Augustus “Gus” Hood Jr.

TURNER – Augustus “Gus” Hood Jr., 91, a longtime resident of Turner, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born June 26, 1930, in Livermore, the son of Augustus Hood, Sr. and Cora (Goding) Hood. He attended school in Livermore Falls. On Jan. 22, 1949, in Buckfield he married Geneva Warren. They enjoyed 48 years together before her passing on Sept. 3, 1997. Gus was owner operator of A. Hood and Son, Inc., hauling milk from the local dairies. He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and spending time in Eustis and Jackman. He will be remembered as a man with strong work ethics, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.He is survived by his daughters, Pamala Gilbert and husband Reynard of Turner, Bonnie Jordan of Turner, Crystal Pineau and husband Mike of Chesterville and Wendy Hood of Hollis; his son Warren Hood and wife Lucy of Turner, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; his brothers, Phillip Hood, Sr. of Leeds, and Richard Hood of Georgia, brother-in-law, Burton Mitchell of Leeds, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, sister Janet Mitchell, brother George Hood, son-in-law, Eugene Jordan, sisters-in-law, Joyce Hood, Pat Hood and Nellie Hood.
