Monday, June 28: L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Programs in Ross Park

L.L.Bean wants to get you outside. From kayaking to archery to fly fishing, the outdoor retailer is offering free adventures and guided courses from June 28 through July 11 led by trained experts. View a schedule.

Tuesday, July 29: RealTime Interventions’ The Birth of Paper
Various times
You have one more day to experience the premiere of RealTime will new show, which forms a “theatrical bridge between Pittsburgh, ‘the Paris of Appalachia’ and Beirut, ‘the Paris of the Middle East.’” Created in response to Beirut’s humanitarian crisis, this how is a “love letter to the postal service –and to paper– as an ancient, global technology of connection, the show connects its audience across oceans in real time.” The one-of-a-kind theatrical experience involved a transatlantic letter exchange and care packages sent to Beirut. Wednesday, June 30: PGH Photo Fair Speaker Series
6 p.m.
During the virtual talk, Power, Suffering, and our Need for Community, renowned collector David Kronn and art advisor Tristan Lund will explore the links between photography, conflict, power, suffering, and community.   The event will include a virtual tour and a decision of photojournalism and the struggles of Northern Ireland. Wednesday, June 30: “La Premiere Marche” with Reel Q
8 p.m.
Don’t miss this regional premier and unreleased screening of Hakim Atoui & Baptiste Etchegaray’s film following four students who led the first-ever Pride March in a working-class suburb of Paris 50 years after the seminal Stonewall uprising. Thursday, July 1: Inside Out at Carnegie Museum of Art
4-8 p.m.
Pre-game the holiday weekend with summer jams from U Haul Disco during this outdoor happy hour event in the museum’s courtyard. Inside the galleries, don’t miss the new Fabricated Landscape exhibition showcasing projects from 10 architectural practices from around the globe. Buy tickets.

Friday, July 2: Music on the Mon at SouthSide Works
7 p.m.
Ferdinand The Bull and Bill Deasy kick off the summer music fest we all been waiting for down on Mon. The festivities at the new riverview outdoor event space will include a vintage Airstream mobile bar run by PA Libations, food truck, beverages purveyors and more.

Friday, July 2: “The Croods – A New Age” at South Park
7:30 p.m.
The adventures of this prehistoric family continue in this 2020 animated adventure comedy. Follow along under he stars at the South Park Amphitheater becomes a drive-In Movie destination. The free event includes family activities.

Saturday, July 3: Meditation in Allegheny Commons Park
1-2 p.m.
The calming sounds of trickling water from the historic fountain at Allegheny Commons Park will set the tone for this mindful meditation session open to all levels. Register for free.

Saturday, July 3: Night Market in Market Square
5-10 p.m.
Downtown is buzzing again now that the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s Night Market is back up and running. Shop from 60-plus independent vendors selling artisan goods, fashion, jewelry, home decor and small batch food. Providing your shopping soundtrack will be a free concert presented by Driving While Black Records featuring Jordan Montgomery, Livefromthecity and JM the Poet.

Saturday, July 3: Title Town Soul & Funk Party at Spirit
9 p.m.-2 a.m.
The dance floor misses you. After a 16-month hiatus, Pittsburgh’s fave soul and funk dance party returns to the Lawrenceville nightspot to make you groove. The rare 45s are being dusted  off for this showcase of the best of deep funk, Northern soul, disco, boogie, Latin boogaloo and beyond. Buy tickets.


Saturday, July 3: Inside Out at Carnegie Museum of Art

DJ Formosa Exe will supply the tunes, while BOOM Concepts hosts performances and arts activities for the next edition of CMOA’s summer event series. There will also be regional dish and drink vendors, Café Carnegie snacks and more. Buy tickets.

Sunday, July 4: Independence Day Celebration at Meadowcroft Rockshelter & Historic Village
10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Celebrate the spirit of America with historical demonstrations and period games at Meadowcroft’s 18th century frontier area and 19th century rural village. Buy tickets.

Sunday, July 4: Fourth at the Fort
1-5 p.m.
Get to the point of local history in the heart of the city. The Fort Pitt Museum is the perfect place to celebrate the July 4th holiday. Attend a flag raising ceremony (all 36 feet), learn to throw a tomahawk, learn about western PA’s role in the American Revolution, and see costumed interpreters reenact 18th-century life and more during this free event.

Sunday, July 4: Independence Day Celebration at Point State Park
6-10 p.m.
The City of Pittsburgh’s signature Independence Day celebration might look a little bit different this year, but the dazzling light show in the sky returns again to dazzle Pittsburghers. The event includes a family-style picnic at Point State Park with festive music and food vendors. Fireworks will start at sundown.

Sunday, July 4: Fireworks Cruise on the Gateway Clipper
8:30 p.m.
Get the best seat in the house as you watch Pittsburgh’s spectacular fireworks display aboard an iconic riverboat. Experience the 4th of July show out on the water with lively commentary provided by the boat’s narrator and captain, enjoy stunning city views and grab tasty snacks and cool drinks. Buy tickets.
