Alan Davis, BPI Media Group, Named PIAS’ 2021 Person of the Year

Nashville, Tenn. – Mr. Alan Davis, President of BPI Media Group in Boaz, Alabama, was named by the Printing Industry Association of the South, Inc. (PIAS) as their Person of the Year. This honor was bestowed at a banquet held on June 22, 2021 during the PIAS Annual Convention at the Hilton SanDestin Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.

Alan was born in Boaz, Alabama to Rex and Emily Davis. After graduating from Boaz High School, Alan attended Snead State Community College, then transferred to Jacksonville State University, graduating in 1989 with a degree in Business Management and Finance. After graduation, Alan started working full time at his father’s printing business, Boaz Printing, Inc. quoting jobs. Boaz Printing was established in 1979, mainly completing government contract work.

After six years, Alan transitioned into a Sales position at Boaz, where he began transforming the business into a commercial printing corporation. In 1996, along with his brother Steve, Alan took ownership of Boaz Printing, Inc. As the company continued to grow and flourish within the ever-changing industry, Boaz Printing was rebranded to BPI Media Group in 2010 to better represent the additional services offered to customers.

Throughout the years, Alan has participated in many volunteer positions and served on many company Boards in the Boaz and print communities. Alan began serving on the PIAS Board of Directors in 2009. He served as the Awards Committee Chairman and began serving on the Executive Committee in 2012, culminating as the Chairman of the Board from 2015 to 2016. From 2018 to 2020 he served as our PIA National Board Representative.

He has been awarded Boaz’s Citizen of the Year and was inducted into the Boaz High School Hall of Fame.

Alan married his wife, Renee in 1986 and they were blessed with three sons, Drew (1990), Ethan (1993) and Christian (1995). Alan and Renee have two grandchildren and one on the way. In his spare time, Alan enjoys spending time with his family and friends, fly fishing and working in his wood shop.

His wife, Renee, son Drew, daughter-in-law Lindsay, his mother Emily, his brother Steve and sister-in-law Tammy were all in attendence at the dinner as he received this honor.

The PIAS Person of the Year is chosen for service to the printing industry, community and betterment of the graphic arts industry as a whole.
